Welcome!
How wonderful that you’ve taken a moment to pause and reflect with us.
Today, on World Vitiligo Day, we’re putting people with vitiligo — quite literally — in the spotlight.

What You Witnessed Today
At the Noordermarkt in Amsterdam, people with vitiligo step into the roles of historical figures and they bring famous paintings to life — including The Anatomy Lesson of Dr. Nicolaes Tulp and Flora by Rembrandt.
Why?
Because throughout history,
people with visible skin conditions
like vitiligo have been largely absent from the canvas.
They were rarely — if ever — portrayed
in classical art.
Today, we reclaim that space.
Because every skin is a masterpiece.
Vitiligo deserves to be seen —in art,
in culture, and in society.

About vitiligo
Vitiligo is a chronic skin condition that causes the loss of pigment, resulting in white patches on the skin. It is not contagious, and while it doesn’t cause physical pain, it can deeply affect a person’s self-image and social life.
But vitiligo is also: unique, powerful, and beautifully human.

Why representation .MATTERS

When you rarely see yourself reflected in the world around you — in media, art, fashion, or history — it shapes how you see yourself.
That’s why representation matters.
By turning the streets into a museum today, we’re not only honouring people with vitiligo — we’re expanding the definition of beauty, identity, and visibility.
